Transport for London , Director of Project and Programme Sponsorship
Ben has recently been appointed as Director of Project and Programme Sponsorship in TfL Surface Transport, responsible for oversight of all TfL investment in London’s roads and streets (including the Mayor’s Healthy Streets programme) and delivery of the Mayor’s air quality programme.
Ben has held a number of senior roles in TfL, including Director of Strategy and Planning for Surface Transport, MD of Communications and founder Director of the Smarter Travel Unit.
Ben has extensive experience of the workings of both national and local government, both from the "outside" as an environmental campaigner and from the "inside" in his roles as a senior director at Transport for London (TfL). He is a non-executive director of the Transport Systems Catapult and Visiting Professor at UCL.
Before joining TfL, Ben was one of the country's leading environmental campaigners, ending up as the first paid Director of the Pedestrians Association, which he re-launched as Living Streets in 2000 to campaign for improved public spaces.
